14 January 2015 by Stephen Oliver
lino-print
his is the start of a very different journey for me – linocut relief printing. Linoleum is made from natural raw materials. Linseed oil, from the flax plant, is the primary ingredient. Together with wood powder, resins and other additives these are combined to create a mixture which is rolled onto a jute (plant fibre) backing. This combination is then cured in ovens...

It all started back in the first half of 2014. I was asked to attend a meeting with council leader Jeremy Kite, together with borough...

Turbulence in Oil

02 September 2013 by Stephen Oliver
Turbulence
A recently finished piece, very much influenced by JMW Turner’s work. I’ve tried to capture the power of the wind and the sea in one flowing movement – calm is still present in the sky.

About

Nature plays a large part in my work — particularly skies and stretching perspectives. Representing the 'feel' of nature, very often as an abstraction using various techniques in oil, acrylic, or watercolour.
